The 40th edition of Milano Unica

Milano Unica, the Italian trade show of high-end textiles and fashion accessories, celebrated its 40th edition held February 4-6, 2025 at Fiera Milano Rho, showcasing the Spring/Summer 2026 collections and reaching a record high in the number of exhibitors (723) in 20 years of its history.

Furthermore, this edition recorded an extraordinary participation of foreign visitors. For the first time, 40% of visitors came from abroad confirming the international role of Milano Unica in the high-end textile and accessories industry.

MU Tendenze Sostenibilità Area

The MU Tendenze Sostenibilità Area showcased nearly 3,000 samples of textiles and accessories for the Spring/Summer 2026 season presented by 359 exhibitors. The selection criteria highlighted the virtuous performance in terms of sustainability and the exhibitors’ unfailing commitment as described in the dedicated article.

Moreover, by accessing e-MilanoUnica Connect, it is still possible to search companies by using the corresponding filters related to sustainability and combined with other criteria, including product, occasion of use, and style.

The areas of the trade show

Milano Unica gathered under the same umbrella the excellence of textiles and fashion accessories leveraging the historic synergy between Moda In, Ideabiella and Shirt Avenue. The exhibition panorama also included special areas that integrated and broadened the traditional offering of the trade show.

In addition to the exhibition areas, the MU Special Content area represented an important point of reference for the industry with the involvement of sector associations, institutions, and entities operating in the fiber segment.

This edition of Milano Unica was characterized by the introduction of a few projects dedicated to culture, heritage, and creative research testifying to the leading role of Milano Unica in the field of exploration and inspiration.

MU Opening Ceremony

During the Opening Ceremony, the President of Milano Unica, Simone Canclini, introduced the institutional contributions, including the video message by the Italian Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, and the greetings from the Prefect of Milan, Claudio Sgaraglia, who drew the attention of the audience to a protocol, which is currently in progress, to fight against illegal hiring and undeclared work in the fashion industry. Matteo Masini, Manager Consumer Goods Office at the Italian Trade Agency ICE, also provided his contribution.

A round table by the title: “Textiles: production the real luxury” followed and was moderated by Nicola Porro with the participation of Toni Belloni, President of LVMH Italy, and Alessandra Gritti, Vice-President and CEO of Tamburi Investment Partners. The debate focused on the evolution of the post-pandemic market. Toni Belloni delved into the phenomenon of “excessive temporary desirability” while Alessandra Gritti described a “doped market” with an impact on the industry in terms of pricing and creativity.  The speakers also discussed the challenges to be faced by the medium-small companies operating in the supply chain and the importance of the support of larger, more structured companies with special attention to the difficulties in accessing the credit market and the costs arising from the implementation of the EU regulations on sustainability.

The Vice-President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, and the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, reiterated their commitment to supporting the industry at the European level by promoting simplification in bureaucracy and feasible sustainability targets for the companies.

The entire video of the Opening Ceremony will be available soon.
