Materials from the urban and underground worlds capture the characteristics of a culture linked to innovation and intolerance of traditional conventions, reflecting a mix of functionality, rebellious aesthetics, sustainability and experimentation. Streetwear, industrial design, and subcultures emerging in cities shape these materials. Examples include recycled polyester, nylon and neoprene, not to mention Kevlar® and Cordura®, mesh and Lycra®, vegan leather and distressed denim, luminescent fabrics, metals and studs.
Fabrics include firm and flowing stretch viscose scuba fabrics, shiny and printed vinyl, tulle, three-dimensional light but voluminous woven fabrics, which also create movement with fringes and appliqués, flounced tulle, fabrics with sequins and metallic inserts, shiny satins or with metallic accents.
Glossy and matte polyurethane alone or mixed with cotton and shantung linen, waxed full-coverage silk organza and printed nylon organza, openwork netting, punched and luminescent lace, encased lace, transparent and tattered flounces, organza cloqué, laser-etched on a lightweight technical base and on Duchesse fabric, Kevlar® and structured and woven nylon. Fabrications also include iridescences, reflectors, stretch and vinyl coatings and monochrome and 3D applied studs. Prints include all-over florals or faces, decoupage-effect newspaper, faded and spotted abstract or animal prints. Denim includes all worn types, both classic and laser-etched and braided or in mesh.
Accessories include shiny vinyl piping, long printed fringes, multilayer voile edging, printed tapes, denim tapes and labels, frayed webbing embroidery, trimmings with frayed accents, studded tapes and metal applications. Not to mention macro zippers, mixes of labels in various fabrics, from cottons to leather-effect denims.
The colours are identified by a graphic palette in which transparency and shadow accentuate sophisticated and gluttonous pinks. Naïve codes become trashy with bleached pastel hues combined and accentuated by black, adding emphasises to both surface and dye effects. A technical and innovative blue embellishes streetwear basics.
